What Game?

Write on Sports was lucky enough to interview the manager, first base and batting coach of the New Jersey  Jackals.  All three gentlemen were asked questions about the team and their experiences being on the team.  They were explaining how the team is made up.  Only 4 veterans and 5 rookies are allowed on a club team.
The manager was asked if the team was confident enough to play in this rainy weather.  He responded, "Everyday that we go out there as a coaching staff, we have the ability to win."  As the team continues their season they continue to try their best to win.  They practice 6 times a week, and before games, practices are limited but they manage to get it in there.  Each time they lose, player's take it pretty hard because baseball is their passion, not only a sport to them.
Unfortuantely the scene of the interview was not the prettiest.  Write on Sports students, the manager, and the coaches stood under a tent sitting on picnic tables avoiding the rain.  In the beginning it was a few drops here and there with humidity in the air; as time went on it started raining hard.  Kids from other camps scrambled around trying to find a dry place to stay, but many stood soaking wet.
So much for watching a ball game on a beautiful day huh?  Kids made the best of the day though.  They used their food vouchers to buy food and eat, hoping the rain would stopped.  Time went on and it was still pouring.  That did not stop kids from smiling though.  They ran around not caring if they were getting even more wet.  They waited and waited but still no sun.
Camps started to leave one by one with kids wearing frowns.  They were not happy about the rain.  The staff at the stadium tried their best to keep the field dry from the rain, but as time went on, puddles formed in the outfield.  Everybody knew the game would be canceled.  The field staff did not let the rain make them sad.  One of the player's from the Jackalsvwent on the tarp barefoot and with his uniform on slipping and sliding all over.  At least there was some entertainment!  Just because of one player, that made me want to buy a ticket for a Jackals game.
