In 2009 the Red Bulls were in last place, but this year they have come back and are now competing for first place. For all the players on the Red Bulls it has been a dream come true to play on this team. Write on Sports camp was lucky enough to interview assistant coach Richie Williams, and two other players: Luke Sassano and Danleigh Borman.
Questions were asked from students about the player's lives and also how it feels to be on the team. Luke Sassano was asked how it feels to be on a team with experienced players. Luke responded, "It actually is great and as the days go on you start learning from them." He was also asked how it feels to have thousands of people watching him, he said, "Well at first you think about it, but then as you get more into the game you just black out and play the game."
Danleigh Borman is from South Africa. As he was growing up his inspiration was his father and cousin. He worked hard and trained as much as possible and ended up in the United States playing professional soccer for the Red Bulls. As a soccer player from South Africa he felt extremely proud of the world cup being held in his home country.
Every day they practice with their team and their lives revolve around soccer. These two players showed us that if you work hard, and make the right choices, your dreams can really come true.
I love your blog! The players were very freceptive to the questions that the campers asked.
